Image: 1/2 plate; Head and shoulders of a man in half profile, wearing a dark jacket with a high back collar, a dark buttoned vest, and a white shirt with a high upturned collar with a black silk bow tie.
Preserver: [none] (pre-1847).
Mat: Oval with sandy finish (late 1840s).
Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a very very rare "American Eagle" design (Berg No. 4-2) on the front only, with a plain (unembossed) back, a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with a floral design (1845-49).
