Image: 1/2 plate; Seated woman, with hair parted in the center and covering her ears, with arm resting on book-adorned cloth-covered table, hand against her cheek, in dark long-sleeved dress cuffed at wrist, with a white collar, and a printed fabric wrap around her arms, matching bracelets on each arm, with a golden pencil on a cord around her neck, holding a bouquet of flowers on her lap. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Octagonal with pebble finish (1839-mid 40s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design on the front only, with a plain (unembossed) back and a purple velvet cushion embossed with the photographer's studio name and address (1846-48).
