Image: 1/2 plate; Seated man, with hair parted to one side, wearing a dark jacket, and a dark loose vest and tie over a relaxed, large turn-down collar white collar, color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Octagonal with pebble finish (1839-mid 40s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed wtih a floral design with butterflies on the front only, with a plain (unembossed) back, a red velvet pinchpad and a navy blue velvet cushion embossed with the photographer's studio name and address (1846-48).
