Image: Woman seated on an elaborate posing chair, with one arm resting on a cloth-covered posing table, her hair parted in the center and puffed out over the ears, wearing dark silk skirt and lighter front-buttoned bodice with a small white ruffled collar, and a dark beaded jacket with full white lace undersleeves, a ring on her finger, matching black ribbon bracelets on both wrists, and earrings, black lace falling from the back of her head. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Double elliptical, more ornate, unusually thin with a cardboard backing for stability (1845-55). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame half case embossed with a simple pattern, missing side rails and pinchpad.
