Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate on red ruby glass; Boy seated with arm resting on a cloth-covered posing table, hair parted on one side, wearing a dark jacket and trousers, white shirt with collar turned down, and a checked bow tie, color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame half case embossed with a geometric design, with gilded edge trim both exterior and interior, with a red velvet pinchpad (ca. 1850).
