Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with hair parted in the center, covering her ears and pulled back low on the crown, wearing a light blue dress with front bodice fullness with unpressed pleats running back over the shoulders, controlled with bands of shirred gathers at waistfront, wide white collar, a necklace around her neck, and a vase of flowers behind her arm, color applied to her dress and the flowers. Preserver: [none] (pre-1843). Mat: Oval with sandy finish (late 1840s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a common "M. B. Brady - Lyre" (Berg No. 4-44) design on the front, with a plain (unembossed) back, a red velvet pinchpad, and a rose red silk cushion (1839-49).
