Image: 1/16 plate; Head and shoulders of a woman with hair parted in the center and covering most of the ears, tied in the back with ribbon, wearing a checked patterned dress with a wide whitework collar, gilded drop earrings and a brooch clasped at her throat, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design, with a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (ca. 1850).Inscription:
