Image: 1/6 plate; Young woman, with a forelock of hair pulled back from the forehead to the crown, side hair in short ringlets covering the ears, wearing a snug long-sleeved dark dress with long, boned darts at the bodice front over the extreme, boardlike, straight corset, with a ribbon fitted around the waist and buckled at the bodice front point, the sleeves capped, and trimmed with whitework, a standing whitework collar with a small gilded brooch pinned at the throat, and a gilded ring on one finger. Preserver: Stiff & heavy, more golden (1847-50). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: [none].
