Image: 1/6 plate with a J. P. hallmark (French daguerreotype plate manufacturer's plate hallmark) in the upper right corner; Standing girl with chin-length hair parted in the center and tucked behind her ears, wearing a short-sleeved gingham dress with low neckline, white stockings and black kid shoes with open fronts, a posing stand evident behind her. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Oval with sandy finish (late 1840s). Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a Lily and Rose design [Plate 114 on page 113 of "American Miniature Case Art" by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co., Inc., 1969)] on the front only, with a simple geometric design on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed wtih a geometric design (6641).
