Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate on purple ruby glass; Head and shoulders of a man with hair parted on one side and puffed over the forehead, wearing a dark jacket with a white shirt, and dark tie under a turned down collar, color applied to his cheeks and lips. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Paper covered wood frame embossed with a flower and vase design on the front and back, with a red fabric pinchpad, and a red fabric cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850-60s).
