Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate; Young child seated on a plush chair, wearing a shoulder-baring dress tied at the shoulders, short white stockings and dark shoes. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Nonpariel with sandy finish (1840s). Case: Leather-covered wood frame embossed with a reverse of Pretlove's scarce floral design (Berg No. 5-670) on the front only, with a red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with the photorapher's studio name and address (late 1840s).
