Image: 1/9 plate; Head and shoulders of a woman with hair parted in the center, and puffed out over the ears, wearing a dark dress or wrap with a plain V neckline, with a white chemisette, a brooch clasped at the throat, and drop earrings. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with simple lines, with a push-button clasp, a red pincord pinchpad and a ruby red velvet cushion (ca. 1850).
