Image Description:
Leather belt worn by William Sargent, who served in the Union Army, Company E, 53rd Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. Sargent was wounded at the Battle of Fair Oaks (aka Seven Pines) on June 1, 1862. Shot in the face and both arms, Sargent was discharged from the Union Army on September 7, 1864 and subsequently lived in Philadelphia.
