Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt put first among American women
Mrs. Rudolph Blankenberg, widow of the late mayor of Philadelphia, was asked by the National League of Women Voters to list candidates for positions on the roster of American women most thought of in the country.  A Chilean delegate to the Pan American Conference requested that the list be compiled.  Selecting twelve living American women about whom articles could be written for Chilean newspapers.
Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt was considered by Mrs. Blankenberg to be the first on the roster.  The women nominated are prominent national figures, and are well known in their respective lives of endeavor.
This series of photographs will introduce the women placed on the list, as America’s greatest women.
