Image: 1/6 plate; Head an shoulders of a man with white hair parted on one side, a beard and mustache, wearing a dark jacket, a patterned vest, and a white shirt buttoned at the front, with a black bow tie and a standing collar.
Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850).
Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850).
Case: Leather-covered wood-frame, not embossed, with a push-button fastener, and a reinforced brass-hinge, interior gilded line details, with a red velvet pinchpad and an unembossed red velvet cushion (1850).
